Oh, this was wonderful! It reminded me of the 4th Anne Shirley book - Anne of Windy Willows (or Poplars in some editions), where she would sometimes walk in a cemetery thinking up beautiful stories.

Thanks so much for reading, Akshita. I love that this reminded you of Anne Shirley! I often think of her, too, when I'm feeling swept away by some flight of fancy.

This is beautiful, Tara! I love a good wander through an old graveyard — so many stories hanging in the air. You perfectly capture that feeling of being swept into the past.

This a splendid poem. I used to live near a cemetery in Oakland that sounds like this cemetery--I'd find graves from the 1800s, there were fancy mausoleums, and acres and acres of paths. I wrote some of my thesis there. And it's still being used today.

Thanks, LeeAnn. These sorts of cemeteries are such special places in a community. I've had people react strangely when I say I walk often in a cemetery. I think they must not have experienced one quite like these.

Love this poem, Tara! Very warm, pleasant, and cozy. I make up stories about random things and people I see, too, and it's fun to get a glimpse into your mind. :)

This is great. Such a brilliant prompt from the world. I saw a fantastic photo series recently of dedicated benches with names that make you wonder at the lives they lived.. this one feels like it could be a Beatles song.
