Don't you just love a good poetry prompt?
Inspired by Scoot's note, which led me here to see your beautiful poem.
I am from words written on a page—
Words that built a soul and imagination,
Words that taught the Eternal Word,
Words that danced on the page and in my brain,
Words that taught my pen to write,
Words that sang and words that drew
A wonderful world, both real and dream.
These words still fill my every day,
Though leaping less within imagination's realm.
I am from words, yes, and words will always fill me,
Reminding me that only one Word will ever satisfy.
This is so lovely! Thank you so much for visiting and sharing your poem!
Chantal! I saw on Notes you had posted so came straight over to read. This is lovely and I really enjoyed it. Well done!
Thank you so much!
I am from a Portuguese bear with a well chewed nose,
from home-made caned chairs and well loved green sofas.
I am from regular moves
And new views.
I am from sycamores
Who guided me to and from school.
I am from overflowing bookcases and photo collages,
from Jelly and ice cream,
and from too much family in too small rooms,
from over explained context! and play dissections.
I am from carol singers,
from trifle and crumble,
and from parlour games.
I am from the moments imaginations flew,
and we built universes of endless possibilities.
Oh, I love this! Thank you for playing along.
Thank you for sharing. It was great fun!
Oh I need to try this! Thinking of having a post with my own version of this, featuring all the other 'Where I'm From' poems!
Thank you so much for this post and the prompt. Perfect way to close out the day.
Lisa, thanks so much for reading! I hope you enjoy playing around with the prompt. It brought up some things for me I had forgotten about.
I did! Interesting what comes to mind to include. I tried not to overthink it, a challenge for an engineer.
Tara, I totally forgot to give credit to George Ella Lyon. I use to use the same template for my students when I taught. Such a good idea do include this in your version. Going to share this with my community as well. Thank you for mentioning me!
Marc, you absolutely did remember to give George Ella Lyon credit. It's #6 at the end of your post. No fair blaming yourself for stuff you didn't do!
Whew! It’s been an exhausting week. Glad I did!
